Chris Walker leaving Florida early to enter NBA draft

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida forward/center Chris Walker has declared for the NBA draft, becoming the second player to leave coach Billy Donovan's program in the past month.

Walker joins shooting guard Michael Frazier II in leaving school early for the draft.

The 6-foot-10 Walker averaged 4.7 points and 3.5 rebounds as a sophomore this season, proving to be one of the biggest disappointments in Donovan's 19 years at Florida. A McDonald's All-America in high school, Walker came to Gainesville with loads of hype. He fell way short of expectations, playing in 49 games and starting six in two years. He averaged 11 minutes, 3.7 points and 2.7 rebounds.

Walker said he's "excited to continue pursuing my dream of playing professionally."

Donovan said Walker is "a great kid with a lot of potential, and everyone here wishes the absolute best for him."
