MEMPHIS Tenn. -- Andrew Bogut clarified Tuesday that he is dealing with inflammation in his knee rather than the initial diagnosis of knee tendinitis.
The Warriors center has missed the last four games after suffering the injury in the first quarter of a game against the Timberwolves.
Bogut explained how the diagnosis changed, saying, "I came on the trip so I didn't have a lot of time to get it checked. From what I was told it wasn't something I should be worried about, but evidently it probably is."
The 7-footer said injury was slow to heal, forcing him to look into it further.
"I got some stuff researched myself as well. It was diagnosed as, should be a three- or four-day thing," Bogut said. "I tried to play Sunday in New Orleans and when I warmed up everything was fine. Soon as I went to load my knee, and push off, it was exactly the same as it was in Minnesota. I took four days off and nothing got better. That kind of worried me a little bit. That's why I dug a little deeper and found out it wasn't what we thought it was."
He is not expected to need surgery.
"No. It's nothing surgical," Bogut said. "I'll have it checked out more tomorrow."
Bogut said that going on flights makes it more difficult for the injury to heal.
"Sure is. I can attest to that. But that wasn't really my decision," Bogut said. "When I first came on the trip I wasn't diagnosed with that condition. I was diagnosed with something else."
