Kawhi Leonard: Will return 'soon'

San Antonio Spurs small forward Kawhi Leonard has "something kind of torn" in his right hand, coach Gregg Popovich told reporters before Friday night's game against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Spurs had listed Leonard as having a bruised hand, but multiple reports Friday said the injury was a torn ligament.

Leonard told the San Antonio Express-News that it "isn't as bad as it sounds" and he should be back "soon."

The reigning NBA Finals MVP is expected back next week, possibly Monday against the Los Angeles Clippers, a source told the Express-News.

Leonard suffered the injury Dec. 9 against the Utah Jazz, missing two games before playing Sunday against Denver and Monday against Portland. He sat out Wednesday against Memphis and Friday night's 129-119 triple-overtime loss as effects of the injury lingered.
