Hornets don't extend qualifying offer to Bismack Biyombo

NBA, Charlotte Hornets

The Charlotte Hornets did not tender Bismack Biyombo a qualifying offer, making him a free agent as of July 1, sources told ESPN's Chris Broussard.

Biyombo, a 6-foot-9 center, played in 64 games and averaged 4.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 19.4 minutes in his fourth season with the Hornets. Drafted seventh overall in 2011, the restricted free agent is still just 22.

With Al Jefferson exercising his player option to remain with the Hornets, Charlotte added more frontcourt depth earlier in June when it traded Lance Stephenson for center Spencer Hawes and forward Matt Barnes.

ESPN.com's Ohm Youngmisuk contributed to this report.
