Tino Martinez new Yankees instructor

TAMPA, Fla. -- Tino Martinez is back with the New York Yankees as a minor league instructor.

Martinez will be at minor league spring training until it ends this weekend. He is expected to continue the role at times during the season by visiting the Yankees' minor league teams.

The former Yankees star said Monday that he enjoys working with the prospects.

Martinez was honored with a plaque in June in Yankee Stadium's Monument Park after helping the Yankees win four World Series championships and five American League pennants from 1996 to 2001. He served as the Miami Marlins' hitting coach in 2013 but resigned in July of that year after complaints by players that he had verbally abused them became public.
