Rockland Boulders offer Odell Beckham Jr. baseball contract

NFL, New York Giants

New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. doesn't need more on his plate, but in case he's interested in playing more than one sport, he now has an offer from the Rockland Boulders minor league baseball team.

The independent Can-Am League team in Pomona, New York, saw the video of Beckham pitching a softball from the mound during a celebrity softball game at its home stadium this past weekend and was impressed.

"It's apparent that Odell is a very gifted athlete regardless of his sport," Boulders general manager Shawn Reilly said in a news release. "We think that getting experience pitching to professional hitters will give him the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Deion Sanders and Bo Jackson."

Beckham, whose parents were track stars, is a gifted athlete who grew up playing and loving soccer as well as football. He played basketball and football and ran track in high school, but unlike Sanders and Jackson, each of whom played in the NFL and Major League Baseball simultaneously, he has no organized baseball background.

It's safe to say there's almost no chance of Beckham accepting such an offer, which is likely a publicity stunt in the first place. One thing this proves is something most people already have figured out over the past eight months: Everybody wants a piece of Beckham Jr.
