Dolphins sign QB Brady Quinn

NFL, Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins have signed quarterback and former 2007 first-round pick Brady Quinn.

Quinn signed with the Dolphins after working out at the team's facility with several free-agent quarterbacks Monday, including Rex Grossman and John Skelton.

The Dolphins announced the signing Tuesday morning. Quinn confirmed it on his Twitter account Monday night.

Quinn has seven years of experience and played in 24 career games with the Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Jets and St. Louis Rams. Quinn has thrown for 3,043 yards, 12 touchdowns and 17 interceptions in his career, and will compete for a backup job behind starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

When asked about the quarterback workouts Monday, Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin didn't provide much additional insight into the team's plans.

"We've had workouts nearly every single day," Philbin said. "This is no different. We're always evaluating different people are out there."

Miami announced Tuesday it waived injured quarterback Pat Devlin in a corresponding move.
