Cassius Marsh has mild knee sprain

NFL, Seattle Seahawks

RENTON, Wash. -- The Seattle Seahawks received good news Thursday when rookie defensive end Cassius Marsh returned to practice after injuring a knee the day before and getting an MRI afterward.

The MRI revealed a mild sprain, but Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Marsh had no problems in Thursday's walkthrough practice. The Seahawks play the San Diego Chargers Friday night at CenturyLink Field.

"It must have been a laying of hands," Carroll said, smiling about of Marsh. "He got out there today and did awesome. If he's OK [Friday] he has a chance to play. We're very happy about that. And the laying of hands reference is just in jest."

The Seahawks have high hopes for Marsh, a fourth-round draft choice out of UCLA. He had an strong first NFL game last week at Denver with four tackles, including a sack.

Marsh (6-foot-4, 255) has been impressive at training camp and is expected to be part of the rotation on the defensive line, especially in passing situations.
