INDIANAPOLIS -- NFL commissioner Roger Goodell may have to wait a little longer to discipline Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay for his March arrest.
A Hamilton County (Indiana) prosecutor spokesman said Tuesday that they do not object to Irsay's request of a continuance. One of Irsay's attorneys filed the motion Monday. He was scheduled to go to court Aug. 28 for two misdemeanor charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
A delay means Irsay's case likely won't go to trial until sometime after the NFL season starts next month.
Goodell has repeatedly said he wants the legal process to play itself out first before deciding how to discipline Irsay.
"We are not commenting on the timing of potential discipline," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Tuesday.
