Bernard Pierce suffered concussion

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Baltimore Ravens running back Bernard Pierce didn't practice Monday because he's dealing with a mild concussion, coach John Harbaugh said.

Pierce was injured in the first quarter of Saturday's preseason game against the Washington Redskins. He is expected to fill in as the Ravens' starting running back while Ray Rice is suspended for the first two regular-season games.

A Ravens trainer told Harbaugh that Pierce is "feeling a lot better."

"Nowadays, with those things, I don't take any stock in that until they tell me that he's back," Harbaugh said. "The concussion thing is hard to predict."

Pierce took to Twitter on Sunday.

Pierce probably won't play in Thursday's preseason finale. Rookie fourth-round pick Lorenzo Taliaferro and Justin Forsett will likely split snaps with the first-team offense.
