DAVIE, Fla. -- The Miami Dolphins signed veteran running back Daniel Thomas on Monday, the team announced. Thomas is expected to fill one running back spot that is expected to be vacated by leading rusher Knowshon Moreno. The Dolphins lost Moreno to a dislocated elbow in the first quarter of Sunday's 29-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Dolphins coach Joe Philbin did not provide an update on Moreno on Monday, saying only that he's being "evaluated." Multiple reports indicate that Moreno is expected to miss about a month. Thomas is a former second-round pick of the Dolphins in 2011. Miami released Thomas over the summer during final roster cuts to 53 players. Miami also put backup defensive back Sammy Seamster on injured reserve on Monday.
