Toby Gerhart out 2nd straight week

NFL, Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Jaguars are being cautious with running back Toby Gerhart's right foot injury and are holding him out for the second week in a row.

Gerhart did not play in last week's game against Tennessee and won't suit up Sunday against Cleveland, either, coach Gus Bradley said Friday afternoon.

"He's really improved, but I think it's at the point now where if we give him these extra couple days we're hoping that it won't be every week that it's something that we're dealing with," Bradley said.

Gerhart, who didn't practice at all this week, said he's still having minor issues with his foot but believes he'll be able to play against Miami on Oct. 26.

"There's still a little bit of lingering stuff and they said we want it to be right," Gerhart said. "We don't want it to nag anymore, so let's take a little bit more time and go from there. It's frustrating, disappointing, but in the end it's going to be best for me."

Gerhart originally hurt his foot in the season opener against Philadelphia but didn't miss any time in the next three games. He re-injured the foot in the Jaguars' loss to Pittsburgh on Oct. 4 and sat out the 16-14 loss to the Titans.

The injury has clearly impacted Gerhart's play on the field. He has run 48 times for 123 yards and is averaging just 2.6 yards per carry.
