Redskins have QB decision to make

LANDOVER, Md. -- The Washington Redskins finally got a win -- but now they also have a decision to make at quarterback.

And that decision could include Robert Griffin III returning for the Oct. 27 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Colt McCoy guided a 19-17 comeback win Sunday over the Tennessee Titans, and his appearance signaled changes at quarterback. Washington's decision at the position likely will come down to Griffin, who has not played since Week 2 because of a dislocated left ankle, or McCoy.

Griffin remains somewhat unlikely, but according to a team source, if the third-year quarterback looks really good in practice Wednesday, then there's a chance he would get the start. In an ideal situation, the Redskins would like to hold Griffin out another week to give him a good week of preparation.

If Griffin doesn't start, then it's likely that McCoy would make his first start since Dec. 8, 2011, when he was with Cleveland.

Redskins coach Jay Gruden said after the game that he thought it was "a good sign the way Colt finished the game, ran the offense."

McCoy played the second half after Gruden benched Kirk Cousins, who turned the ball over twice in the first half, including his ninth interception of the season -- on a simple pass over the middle.

"That was a standard pass play we've run for a long, long time," Gruden said. "And [Cousins] threw it right to him [the defender]."
