Texans' QB options: Lewis, Keenum

HOUSTON -- Texans rookie quarterback Tom Savage will miss Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens and "possibly more" with a knee injury, coach Bill O'Brien said Monday.

Of course, with only two games remaining this season, that leaves a good chance Savage is done for the year.

Savage wore a knee brace after Sunday's game in Indianapolis. He had an MRI on Monday morning.

Savage entered Sunday's game when starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick suffered a cleanly broken tibia for which he had a rod surgically inserted in his leg on Monday morning. O'Brien said Fitzpatrick's surgery went well.

"No, no I haven't," O'Brien said when asked if he'd ever been part of losing so many quarterbacks to injury. "I've been in a lot of situations. This is one where we've lost some guys here with [Ryan] Mallett, Fitzy and Tom. But like I said that's professional football."

The Texans signed Case Keenum off the Rams' practice squad and will choose a starter between Keenum and Thad Lewis sometime this week. Keenum was with the Texans from the start of the 2012 offseason, when the Texans signed him as an undrafted rookie, until this past August, when they released him after trading for Mallett. Lewis signed with the Texans on Nov. 26 after Mallett went on injured reserve with a torn pectoral muscle.

The Texans did get a bit of good news on the non-quarterback front, however, as O'Brien said receiver Andre Johnson, who suffered a concussion on Dec. 7 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, looked good and should be able to play Sunday.

While he made the trip to Indianapolis, Johnson did not pass the league's concussion protocol in time to play against the Colts.
