Falcons re-sign DE Kroy Biermann

NFL, Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons re-signed defensive end Kroy Biermann on Wednesday.

Biermann, often better known for his marriage to reality TV star Kim Zolciak and for their reality show, "Don't Be Tardy," became a lightning rod for criticism last season, when he recorded 4.5 sacks.

Some wondered if he merited a starting role, considering his lack of contribution as a pass-rusher.

But Biermann had his moments and even pleased the previous coaching staff with his play.

In 2014, Biermann started 15 of 16 games and finished fifth on the team with 75 tackles, and was first on the team with eight tackles for losses. He missed most of the 2013 season with an Achilles tear.

Biermann, 29, was a fifth-round pick of the Falcons in the 2008 draft out of Montana.
