Veteran offensive lineman Wade Smith retires after 11 seasons

Offensive lineman Wade Smith, who started 48 games at left guard for the Houston Texans from 2010 to 2013, announced his retirement via his Instagram account.

The 33-year-old Smith played in 143 games (98 starts) during the regular season in his 11-season career. He also appeared in five playoff games, starting four of them for the Texans (2011-12).

The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Smith played in five games for Philadelphia in 2014.

He was a third-round draft pick by the Dolphins in 2003 and played two seasons in Miami. He also played for the New York Jets (2006-07) and Kansas City Chiefs (2008-09).

He was a Pro Bowl selection in 2012 for the Texans.
