Police suspend investigation into Aqib Talib for aggravated assault

NFL, Denver Broncos

The Dallas Police Department said it has suspended an investigation into an alleged aggravated assault incident that involved Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib and his older brother, Yaqub, earlier this month.

Talib was never arrested or charged in connection with the incident, which allegedly happened in the early-morning hours on April 8 outside a nightclub in downtown Dallas. The Broncos have acknowledged that they've spoken to Talib about the incident.

Team sources told ESPN that Talib and his brother were both questioned by police at a different nightclub than the one where the incident occurred.

According to WFAA-TV in Dallas, the Talib brothers were involved in "a physical altercation" with at least one person at Club Luxx, and a gun was fired in the club. Citing a police report, WFAA also reported that the Talibs left Club Luxx in separate vehicles and went to the XTC Cabaret, where they were questioned by police. The two vehicles, a Range Rover and a Jaguar, were then towed by police to be examined for evidence.

Talib, who signed a six-year, $57 million deal with the Broncos in March 2014 and went on to play in the Pro Bowl this past January, is a Dallas-area native and spends much of his offseason there.
