          Maurice Jones-Drew to sign one-day deal with Jaguars, retire next week

          JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Running back Maurice Jones-Drew will sign a one-day contract and retire as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars on Tuesday.

          Jones-Drew announced his retirement on March 5 after one season with the Oakland Raiders. He played nine seasons in the NFL and rushed for 8,167 yards and 68 touchdowns, including 8,071 yards and 68 touchdowns in eight seasons with the Jaguars from 2006 to 2013.

          Jones-Drew, who will have a news conference at 11 a.m. ET at EverBank Field on Tuesday, is one of the best players in Jaguars history. He was the team's second-round draft pick in 2006 and paired with running back Fred Taylor from 2006 to '08.

          The Jaguars parted ways with Taylor after 2008, and that's when Jones-Drew flourished. He ran for 4,321 yards and 28 touchdowns from 2009 to '11, including an NFL-best 1,606 yards in 2011.

          Jones-Drew signed with Oakland as a free agent after the 2013 season but ran for just 96 yards on 43 carries with the Raiders in 2014.
