PITTSBURGH -- Despite rumors that he might not show up for offseason workouts, Steelers receiver Antonio Brown had a smile on his face as he joined his teammates Tuesday.
Brown leads the NFL with 239 catches since 2013, yet he's scheduled to make $8.392 million this year, which ranks 13th among receivers.
"This is a community that I love," Brown said Tuesday. "My kids go to school here. I want to keep a good reputation. Obviously money's not important to me. I've got enough. The organization has extremely blessed me. I'm ready to play football."
In 2012, Brown signed a six-year, $43 million deal with Pittsburgh, which holds his rights for the next three years. The Steelers typically don't renegotiate contracts until a deal is set to expire in a calendar year.
His silence on contractual matters was telling, as he referred several questions to agent Drew Rosenhaus. Asked directly whether he's looking for a new deal, Brown said Tuesday that's "not my business to discuss."
Brown missed a phase one workout in April, which was followed by a report that Brown had mulled a holdout. Brown later tweeted that he missed the session while spending time with his newborn daughter.
Brown has exploded onto the scene in Pittsburgh, posting 3,984 yards and 26 touchdowns in the past three seasons. He still displays the attitude of a wide-eyed rookie, saying Tuesday he'll be at training camp with my "new [Mohawk] haircut" and a smile.
"Every year I've got something to prove," Brown said. "I've got new guys trying to take my spot. I've got guys that want to be better than me. I've got to stay hungry."
