Texans rookie DT Brandon Ivory arrested on burglary charges

NFL, Houston Texans

Houston Texans rookie defensive tackle Brandon Ivory was arrested on first degree burglary charges Wednesday morning and sent to the Tuscaloosa County Jail pending a $120,000 bond.

Ivory and Nicholas Gerald Gibson III were charged with two counts of first degree burglary after being taken into custody and questioned by Tuscaloosa Police Department investigators.

"The Houston Texans are aware of the police report regarding defensive tackle Brandon Ivory in Tuscaloosa Alabama," the Texans released via statement. "At this time we will have no further comment until we gather all the relevant facts."

The Tuscaloosa police initially responded to a call at 9 a.m. ET on Wednesday. The victims said two men kicked in their back door, one armed with an assault rifle and one armed with a knife, assaulted one victim and took cash and two iPads. The TPD is not releasing which suspect held which weapon.

Tuscaloosa police officers made contact with Ivory and Gibson at their residence in Tuscaloosa and recovered the stolen items and weapons allegedly used in the burglary, according to the TPD.

"I spoke to Brandon he is not guilty and his name will be cleared of all charges," Ivory's agent, Jeff Guerriero, said in a text message.

Ivory is the first Texans player to have been arrested since 2009. The team could not immediately be reached for comment. Ivory's agent did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Ivory signed as an undrafted free agent with the Texans this May. He spent five seasons at Alabama, becoming a full-time starter during his redshirt junior year in 2013.
