Chris Clemons reports to Jags camp one day late

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jaguars defensive end Chris Clemons reported to training camp Friday morning, one day after veterans were scheduled to report.

Clemons attended the Jaguars' morning practice but did not participate, and the team put him on the active/non-football injury list. Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said he didn't want to get into the specifics of Clemons' injury, but he did say there is no timetable for his return to the field.

"He's working out with our guys now, with Milo [strength and conditioning coordinator Tom Myslinski] and [head athletic trainer] Scott [Trulock], and doing some things with them as we progress," Bradley said. "But it's good to see him back here."

Clemons was the only player on the 90-man roster who didn't report Thursday morning. Bradley said Thursday that Clemons was dealing with some personal issues and called the 10-year veteran's absence "concerning."

Clemons finished second on the team with 8.0 sacks last season, but three of those came in one game against Indianapolis in Week 12. He had just one sack and seven tackles in the final five games.

Clemons did not participate in the Jaguars' nine organized team activities in the spring but did attend the mandatory three-day minicamp.

On the first day of minicamp, Clemons said his plan all along was to skip the voluntary offseason conditioning program and that he kept Bradley and defensive line coach Todd Wash in the loop.

Clemons also said he had a workout program to ensure that he would be in shape. That's the way he said he prefers to handle his offseason.

He skipped most offseason workouts in Seattle and missed the first three OTAs with the Jaguars in 2014.
