Terrelle Pryor says transition going well, hammy tweak not serious

BEREA, Ohio -- Terrelle Pryor is starting to feel at home in his new position.

"Absolutely I feel like I'm a receiver," the former quarterback said Tuesday after the Cleveland Browns' practice.

Pryor said his transition from quarterback to wide receiver has been going well and that he's learning something every day about the position -- from grasping the play in the huddle to route-running to techniques with downfield blocking.

"It's a process," he said. "I can't say I'm already there because I'm not. I'd be lying. I think it's a process."

He finished practice with his hamstring wrapped and iced but said he does not believe there is a serious issue. He still plans to take part in the Browns' scrimmage at Ohio State on Friday.

Browns coach Mike Pettine agreed that the injury wasn't serious but said he would have an MRI just to be sure.

"I don't think it was anything serious, but you never know," Pettine said. "We will get an image and see where we are with it."

Pryor gets extra work daily on his own before practice with either Joe Haden or Tramon Williams, the focus being on avoiding press coverage.

"For me not to take advantage of that situation would be very stupid," Pryor said. "We go maybe 5-10 minutes. We may get five to 10 reps, but that matters. That's a big deal to go against him and him teaching me."

Pryor also said he works on one-handed catches with the Juggs machine. He catches 20 with both hands, then 20 with the right followed by as many as he can without dropping one. He repeats the procedure with the left before finishing again with both hands. Catching at least 100 passes off the machine is a pre-practice staple.

"I definitely do feel like this is going well," Pryor said.

In practice, Pryor even threw a wobbly pass off an end-around that turned into a touchdown reception by wide receiver Travis Benjamin.
