Colts plan for Monday status update on Art Jones

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Colts are in a holding pattern, waiting to find out how long defensive tackle Art Jones will be out with a left ankle injury.

Colts coach Chuck Pagano said they should know more about Jones' status on Monday. ESPN NFL Insider Josina Anderson reported Sunday that Jones, the Colts' best defensive player against the run, is meeting with a foot and ankle specialist.

Jones injured his ankle on the first defensive series of Saturday's game against the Rams. He left the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis on Saturday wearing a walking boot on his left foot.

"Tough blow," Pagano said. "Don't want to see anybody get hurt."

Jones, who signed a five-year, $33 million contract in 2014, missed seven games last season with a high right ankle injury. He acknowledged during the offseason that he was never healthy when he returned to the lineup in the second half of the season.
