Jaguars trade kicker Josh Scobee to Steelers

NFL, Jacksonville Jaguars, Pittsburgh Steelers

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jaguars traded kicker Josh Scobee to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday.

Scobee confirmed the trade to Jacksonville radio station 1010 XL on Monday morning. The Steelers officially announced the trade Monday afternoon, announcing they had acquired Scobee for a 2016 sixth-round pick.

Scobee, Jacksonville's all-time leading scorer, has scored 1,022 points and has made 235 field goals over his 11 seasons with the Jaguars. He also holds the team record with a 59-yard field goal, which he made in 2010 to beat Indianapolis.

The Steelers were in need of a kicker because Shaun Suisham suffered a torn ACL in the preseason opener and his replacement, Garrett Hartley, suffered a hamstring injury against Buffalo last weekend.

Scobee's trade means the Jaguars will go into the season at kicker with Jason Myers, who has never appeared in an NFL game. Myers signed with the Jaguars in early March after spending the 2014 season with Arizona and San Jose of the Arena Football League.

Myers lettered four years at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York.
