Bucs re-sign kicker Connor Barth, who had tweeted he was available

NFL, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

TAMPA, Fla. -- The Buccaneers have re-signed kicker Connor Barth, who used Twitter to remind the team of his availability Sunday while rookie Kyle Brindza continued to miss kicks.

The Buccaneers announced the move Tuesday morning on their official Twitter account.

Brindza was released Monday after going 6-for-12 on field goal tries and 6-for-8 on extra points this season. The rookie's struggles continued in the loss to the Panthers on Sunday, when he went 1-for-3 on field goal tries with a missed extra point.

Barth, 29, had a previous stint with the Bucs, making 91 of 108 field goal attempts and all 110 extra points from 2009 to 2012. He began his career with the Chiefs in 2008, and he also played for the Broncos last season.

The Bucs signed Barth on Aug. 27 to a two-year deal to compete for the kicking job late in the preseason after he was released by the Broncos. But Brindza won the job after being acquired by Tampa Bay in a trade with the Lions, prompting the Bucs to release Barth on Sept. 5.

On Sunday afternoon, Barth tweeted that he would be available for the right price.

He didn't have to wait long before reuniting with his former team.
