Allen Hurns released from hospital after suffering concussion vs. Chargers

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jaguars wide receiver Allen Hurns has been released from a hospital after suffering a concussion during Sunday's 31-25 loss to the Chargers.

The Jaguars announced earlier Sunday that Hurns had movement and feeling in his extremities before he left at EverBank Field. He was hospitalized for precautionary reasons.

Later on Sunday, Hurns tweeted thanks for the thoughts and prayers sent his way.

"All of us were like, 'Man, OK, at least he's moving and he's moving his hands, he's functional, he knows what's going on,'" running back Denard Robinson said. "It's tough. Hopefully he's OK. I'll be praying for him."

Hurns was taken off the field with 3 minutes, 44 seconds remaining after he was injured trying to make a catch. He appeared to jam his head into the turn after going down to try and catch a low pass from quarterback Blake Bortles. Hurns rolled over onto his back and medical personnel quickly attended to him on the field by stabilizing his helmet.

Players from both teams kneeled on the turf while Hurns received treatment. He eventually was strapped to a backboard and lifted onto a stretcher before being wheeled off the field.

"We all understand the risks that go with playing football, but you hate to see somebody leave the game on a stretcher," Jaguars tight end Julius Thomas said. "Neither team wants that to happen or to be the case. What we need to do is we've got to be there for him.

"I hate to see that happen to one of my teammates, especially a guy that's been having a hell of a season. Our prayers are with him. I hope he's OK."

Hurns is the Jaguars' second-leading receiver with 48 catches for 758 yards and seven touchdowns. He had a streak of seven consecutive games with a touchdown catch snapped on Nov. 19 against Tennessee.
