Doug Baldwin says goal still same after deal: Win championships

Wide receiver Doug Baldwin signed a four-year, $46 million contract extension with the Seattle Seahawks, but he insists his approach is not going to change.

"I feel good," Baldwin said during an interview on 710 ESPN Seattle. "Obviously I'm blessed to have a little bit more security in my life in terms of the contract, but nothing really changes. The goal's still the same. We've got to win some championships."

A league source told ESPN's Dan Graziano that Baldwin's contract includes $12 million guaranteed at signing. He receives a $7 million signing bonus, a $4 million roster bonus paid July 4 and a $1 million salary. An additional $12.25 million is guaranteed for injury. Of that, $7.75 million becomes fully guaranteed in February 2017, and the other $4.5 million is fully guaranteed in February 2018.

He signed the contract Tuesday. The Seahawks announced the extension on Wednesday.

Baldwin is coming off a career year in which he caught 78 balls for 1,069 yards and 14 touchdowns (tied for the league lead). In addition to being a key cog in the Seahawks' passing attack, Baldwin said he's embracing a leadership role in the locker room.

"Before I got to this point, before I became a leader, I thought success was all about building myself up and trying to reach my goals," he said. "But once you become a leader, you realize it's about building others up and helping others reach their goals and reach success. So that's where I'm at right now."

Originally an undrafted free agent out of Stanford, the 27-year-old Baldwin has started 46 games in five seasons with the Seahawks.
