The Detroit Red Wings agreed to terms Monday on a new three-year deal with young star Tomas Tatar, who scored 19 goals last season.

The deal is for an average salary of $2.75 million per season, sources told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun.

The 23-year-old Tatar ranked sixth on the Red Wings with 39 points in 73 games during his rookie season. He led the Red Wings with 158 shots, while his 19 goals were second and his plus-12 rating ranked third.

The left wing, selected in the 2009 NHL entry draft by Detroit, also represented Slovakia at the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.
