Craig Adams retires; won two titles in 14 seasons

NHL, Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, Pittsburgh Penguins

Two-time Stanley Cup winner Craig Adams announced his retirement from the NHL on Tuesday.

Adams, a right winger, played 14 seasons and made stops in Carolina, Chicago and Pittsburgh, winning titles with the Hurricanes in 2006 and Penguins in '09.

Adams, who hasn't played since last season, finishes with 55 goals and 105 assists in 951 career games.

"I consider myself very lucky to have been able to live out my dream of playing in the NHL," Adams, 38, said in a statement.

"The opportunity to compete with and against the best players in the world every day was an honour that I never took for granted. I am grateful for my teammates and the friendships I have made over the years. Thanks for the good times, the laughs and the memories. I would also like to express my gratitude to the fans across the NHL. Without the fans the winning, and losing, would not mean nearly as much."
