President Obama congratulates Penguins on Stanley Cup win

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama congratulated the Pittsburgh Penguins for winning the Stanley Cup this month.

Obama spoke to Penguins coach Mike Sullivan on Wednesday. The White House says Obama praised the talent of the team's players and commended them for teamwork and dedication.

White House press secretary Josh Earnest says Obama also invited the championship team to the White House for a celebration marking their victory.

The Penguins claimed their fourth Stanley Cup title earlier in June after defeating the San Jose Sharks 3-1 in Game 6.
