The North Carolina Tar Heels have landed a commitment from ESPN 100 prospect Brandon Robinson on Monday.
Robinson chose the Tar Heels over Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville and Georgia.
"I feel like coach [Roy] Williams and coach [Hubert] Davis believe in my game and can help me improve and reach my dreams and goals," Robinson told ESPN.com. "North Carolina has a great basketball tradition, and I want to be a part of something special and take part in continuing that tradition."
Ranked No. 61 in the ESPN 100, Robinson is a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Douglas County High School (Ga.). He boosted his stock during the spring and also helped lead the Georgia Stars AAU program to a Nike Peach Jam title -- and arguably become the clear-cut No. 1 AAU team during the summer.
Robinson is the second commitment for North Carolina in the 2016 class, joining five-star center Tony Bradley (No. 26), who pledged earlier this month.
All eyes have been on Chapel Hill this class, as the Tar Heels went into the cycle knowing they would be losing seniors Marcus Paige, Brice Johnson and Joel James -- and could also possibly see sophomore Justin Jackson or junior Kennedy Meeks take the NBA draft early-entry route.
Moreover, Carolina's recruiting efforts in the 2015 class were clearly hindered by the NCAA investigation. It likely hurt the Tar Heels in their pursuit of guys such as Brandon Ingram (No. 3 in ESPN 100 for 2015), Jaylen Brown (No. 4) and others.
"They mentioned it to me," Robinson said. "Coach ensured me that the basketball program would not be touched and it had nothing to do with them."
With Bradley and Robinson now in the fold, though, the Tar Heels are off to a solid start in 2016. They are still going after plenty of prospects, too, with four-star guard Seventh Woods taking his official visit this past weekend. Williams and his staff are also working for Rawle Alkins (No. 15), Jarrett Allen (No. 19), T.J. Leaf (No. 13) and Finland native Lauri Markkanen.
