There will be no suspense in Austin or Baton Rouge, but there will be new coaches on both campuses in 2017.

Texas' Charlie Strong and LSU's Ed Orgeron entered Saturday with slim hopes of retaining their jobs. By late Saturday afternoon, both men had essentially fired themselves.

Orgeron became the second LSU coach this season to have his future decided on the final play of an SEC loss. Strong watched Kansas end its 19-game Big 12 losing streak and beat Texas for the first time since 1938.
