After beating Big Ten, just how good can ACC be?

Men's College Basketball, Duke Blue Devils, Boston College Eagles, Clemson Tigers, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Louisville Cardinals, Miami Hurricanes, NC State Wolfpack, North Carolina Tar Heels, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Pittsburgh Panthers, Syracuse Orange, Virginia Cavaliers, Virginia Tech Hokies, Wake Forest Demon Deacons

On the heels of its first ACC/Big Ten Challenge win since 2008, the ACC is the consensus choice as the strongest and deepest conference in Division I.

We can quibble over how to judge an entire league's "strength" from top to bottom. (We see you, Big 12.) Nevertheless, let's give the consensus its due and, for the moment, confer upon the ACC the title of best conference in the nation.

Now the question becomes whether the ACC do something more and earn a place in our memory as one of the best conferences of recent years. That answer would be yes, the ACC can do just that.

The league has a shot at greatness, but it's no sure thing. Achieving that greatness will require attaining at least three goals.
