Welcome to Week 5 of the College Football Vegas Rankings.

After Ole Miss lost at home to Florida, Baylor and Alabama had the opportunity to rise to the top. With two new teams at the top of the College Football Vegas Rankings, the season has already taken a sharp turn.

Five different schools moved out of the College Football Vegas Rankings this week: Wisconsin, Mississippi State, West Virginia, North Carolina State and Tennessee

The CFB Vegas Rankings are the composite power ratings of a panel of professional handicappers and college football statisticians, including fellow Insider Phil Steele, Brian Edwards and Bruce Marshall of The Gold Sheet. The ratings are intended to weight the relative strength of the teams if they met on a neutral field and to be compared to the point spread on a given game.

For example, if Baylor and LSU were to play on a neutral field this week, the Bears would be considered a 4-point favorite by our ratings.

Here's a look at the 25 best teams in college football right now, according to our panel.

T-1. Baylor Bears (49) Last Week: 5th (46)

In the game with the highest over/under in recent memory, Baylor outlasted Texas Tech 63-35, with the game going over the total of 90. Baylor has covered its last two games and plays Kansas in Lawrence this week.

T-1. Alabama Crimson Tide (49) Last Week: T-6th (45.5)

Tied with Baylor atop the College Football Vegas Rankings is Alabama. The Crimson Tide dismantled Georgia 38-10 as a 1.5-point underdog. After Alabama's streak of 72 consecutive games as a point-spread favorite came to an end, it faces Arkansas this weekend.
