Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. With a tip of the cap to NFL writer Bill Barnwell, Insider is adopting his idea to rank the top 25 offensive "triplets" in college football.

We're following a similar format, mandating the selection of a quarterback plus two skill position players. The goal is to identify what we think will be the most impactful and productive trios in the nation. It's a tough task in college football; the sample sizes are smaller, or, in many cases, nonexistent. In the event that we do not know for certain a team's starting quarterback, we went with who we expect to be the starter.

Remember, this has nothing to do with how a team is expected to perform. Rather, think of it as the best offensive three-player units in the nation. As such, some of these selections will come as a surprise.
