Sanctions gone, here's PSU's plan

Football Recruiting, Penn State Nittany Lions

With sanctions lifted at Penn State, the Nittany Lions are as close to having their full scholarship capacity as they have been in four years. Depth and talent are being replenished behind a vision from head coach James Franklin and the resources at Penn State's disposal. Penn State just finished its first full recruiting class under Franklin and his staff and the transitional phase is now behind them. Penn State currently has five 2016 commitments. Here is how Penn State's recruiting blueprint will look this year.

More with more

Many of the members of this staff come from the lower division ranks at some point in their careers. Defensive coordinator Bob Shoop was at William and Mary, UMass and Columbia. Offensive line coach Herb Hand spent time at Tulsa and Glenville State. Brent Pry had stints at Georgia Southern, Memphis and La-Lafayette. With that, Franklin and most of his staff have been accustomed to having to do more with less. They don't have to anymore. Penn State has the resources to recruit at a national level. Identifying and utilizing those resources has made an impact. Now let's see what they can accomplish when maximizing their resources.
