It is generally accepted that about 10 percent of the world's population is left-handed. However, in baseball, that number jumps quite a bit. With so many pitchers being right-handed, teams are always searching for left-handed hitters to gain the natural advantage. The counterattack for a lineup of good left-handed hitters is an even better left-handed pitcher.

Clayton Kershaw and Chris Sale -- both left-handers -- are arguably the best pitchers on the planet. Several of the top pitching prospects are, too. Opposing managers, try as they might, attempt to stack the lineup with the opposite hand, but the truth is that most teams lack enough quality right-handed hitters to truly make a difference against an elite lefty.

The handedness of pitchers has long been important in terms of real-world drafting but may be less important in the fantasy realm. Quality talent is still quality talent, regardless of the hand that's used to throw.
