Forecasting SEC's college hoops standings for 2016-17

Men's College Basketball, Kentucky Wildcats, Alabama Crimson Tide, Arkansas Razorbacks, Auburn Tigers, Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, LSU Tigers, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Missouri Tigers, Ole Miss Rebels, South Carolina Gamecocks, Tennessee Volunteers, Texas A&M Aggies, Vanderbilt Commodores

Going into last season, everyone thought the SEC belonged to Kentucky. Instead, the Wildcats ended up sharing the regular-season title with Texas A&M -- although the Aggies received the top seed in the conference tournament by way of winning the only regular-season meeting. And the last SEC team standing in the NCAA tournament was, you guessed it, the Aggies (the league earned only three bids: Kentucky, A&M and Vanderbilt).

So guess what? Heading into this coming season, I really, really think the SEC belongs to Kentucky. In fact, depending on which players decide to stay and which ones go pro this week, you can make a case that the separation between the Wildcats and the rest of the league is plain as day. Then again, maybe history will repeat itself, and all of our finely crafted predictions will be overturned.
