Introducing the #NoLoveTeam

Insider Men's College Basketball, SMU Mustangs, Rhode Island Rams, Colorado Buffaloes, Ole Miss Ole Miss, Florida State Seminoles

It was about a month into last season, while I was watching tape in preparation to call an Iowa State game, that the idea for the #NoLoveTeam was born.

As I evaluated unheralded forward Dustin Hogue and witnessed the quality he brought to the Cyclones, I thought, Man, this guy is getting no love.

And Hogue wasn't alone, as I noticed there were many outstanding players who were getting little to no attention for their substantial nightly contributions. Thus the idea was hatched to once a month come up with a list of five guys who deserved some recognition and call it my #NoLoveTeam.

So with all the offseason hype finally giving way to the 2014-15 season, I've developed my first edition of this year's #NoLoveTeam. The initial list of names started with 34, which has been trimmed down to these five:

1. Nic Moore, SMU (Junior, Guard, 5-9, 170)

You might question Moore being on the #NoLoveTeam, since he was a first-team All-AAC choice last season, alongside fellow guards Shabazz Napier, Sean Kilpatrick and Russ Smith. But last week, when the Bob Cousy Award released its preseason watch list for the nation's top guard honor, nowhere was the name Nic Moore. Which prompted my ESPN colleague Fran Fraschilla to tweet: "Hey, Bob Cousy Award committee. Want to say this respectfully. Blow up your list and start over if SMU's Nic Moore is not on it. Thanks!" I think that sums it up nicely. If you need more evidence of Moore's value, he also had a 2-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio while knocking down 44 percent of his 3-point shots for a team that just missed the 2014 NCAA tournament. Moore is averaging 12.8 points and 5.5 assists per game in the early stages of 2014-15.
