Golson's chances of becoming NFL QB prospect at FSU

Everett Golson's Notre Dame career got off to an outstanding start in 2012, as he won his first 10 starts en route to leading the Fighting Irish to the national championship game (where they lost to a much more talented team in Alabama). Unfortunately, that was the high mark of his Fighting Irish tenure, as he missed the 2013 season due to a school suspension for "poor academic judgment," and then struggled after returning for the 2014 campaign (Notre Dame lost five of his last six starts).

He's hoping for a fresh start with Florida State after choosing to transfer to the Seminoles. He's eligible to play immediately in 2015, in accordance with the NCAA's graduate transfer rule.

The last three starting quarterbacks in Tallahassee - Christian Ponder, EJ Manuel and Jameis Winston - have gone on to become first-round NFL draft picks. Can Golson continue this run of NFL success?

Right now, the answer is no: Golson isn't even close to being in the same discussion as those guys in terms of NFL potential at this point. My colleague Kevin Weidl put him in the mid-to-late Day 3 range after studying his tape last fall, and that was before his season really collapsed.

However, Golson does have the natural tools to move up draft boards with a strong 2015 season. Let's take a look at what Golson does well and where he can show improvement during his one season with the Noles.
