Saunders, Harvard handle Houston 84-63

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Wesley Saunders finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds while Steve Moundou-Missi added 14 and 14, helping Harvard defeat Houston 84-63 on Tuesday night.

Harvard shot 52.8 percent from the field and outscored Houston 36-18 in the paint. Siyani Chambers chipped in 12 points with five assists and Corbin Miller also had 12 points.

The Crimson (3-1) opened the game on a 13-3 run sparked by two free throws and a layup from Saunders along with Chambers' 3-pointer, leading them to a 43-34 halftime lead. Miller drilled a 3-pointer to cap a 17-6 surge to open the second half, pushing Harvard's lead to 20 with 12:23 remaining.

The Cougars (2-1) were limited to 21-of-63 shooting and couldn't keep pace despite hitting 10 3-pointers. Harvard out-rebounded Houston 43-32 and took advantage of 23 fouls, going 22 of 26 from the free throw line.

Eric Weary Jr. led Houston with 19 points.
