Central Michigan puts away Youngstown State 75-63

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Chris Fowler scored 16 points and dished out eight assists, as Central Michigan put away Youngstown State 75-63 on Tuesday night.

Luke Meyer chipped in 13 points with nine rebounds before fouling out late and Braylon Rayson added 12 points for the Chippewas. John Simons had nine points and 12 boards, lifting Central Michigan to a dominating 52-30 edge in rebounding.

Central Michigan (2-0) closed the first half with an 11-2 run sparked by four free throws from Fowler to take a 36-25 advantage at halftime. Youngstown State pulled no closer than seven in the second half.

Marcus Keene led the Penguins (1-2) with 24 points and Shaun Stewart added 14 with six boards.

Meyer and Austin Stewart each sank 3-pointers to help the Chippewas take an early 12-3 lead, but Central Michigan only made four more the rest of the way, finishing 6 of 26 from deep.
