Kent State cruises against Illinois-Chicago, 78-60

KENT, Ohio -- Derek Jackson scored 17 points, Devareaux Manley added 15 more, and Kent State beat Illinois-Chicago 78-60 on Saturday night in the Men Against Breast Cancer Classic.

Both Kris Brewer and Jimmy Hall came off the bench and finished with 14 points and 10 points, respectively for the Golden Flashes (4-0). Kent State never trailed in the game, building that reached 26 in the second half. They held a 29-10 advantage in bench scoring, won the rebounding battle 40-30, and hit nine more threes than the Flames.

Illinois-Chicago was led by Jake Wiegand's game high 26 points on 11-of-15 from the field. Weigand also had a team high nine rebounds, while Jay Harris finished with 14 points for the Flames (1-3), which shot only 35 percent from the field and had just four assists as a team.
