KENT, Ohio -- Matt Townsend scored 12 points, including the go-ahead layup with 46 seconds left to help Yale beat Kent State 66-59 in the inaugural Men Against Breast Cancer Classic championship on Sunday. Kris Brewer made a pair of free throws to give Kent State a 59-58 lead before Townsend's go-ahead shot. Justin Sears made four free throw attempts and Makai Mason hit a pair to cap the scoring. Jack Montague scored 13 points, and Sears had 12 with nine boards for Yale (4-1). Armani Cotton scored 11 points, including three 3-pointers for the Bulldogs, who shot 50 percent from the field. Jimmy Hall scored to give Kent State (4-1) its largest lead of the second half, 34-26 with 19:35 remaining. Montague's jumper tied it at 36 with 16:18 remaining, and then neither team led by more than four before the Bulldogs pulled away late. Hall finished with 22 points.
