Central Michigan romps past Eastern Michigan 65-51

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- John Simons and Chris Fowler scored 15 and 13 points, respectively, to lead Central Michigan to a 65-51 win over Eastern Michigan in a Mid-American Conference showdown Saturday.

The Chippewas never trailed after Simon drilled a 3-pointer with 17:20 left in the first half for a 3-2 lead.

Central Michigan (14-3, 4-2 MAC) came into the game second in the nation in scoring, averaging 85.1 points and 11.4 3-pointers per game on 42.3 percent shooting from distance. The Eagles held Central Michigan to 20.1 points below its per-game average and limited them to 10-of-29 shooting (34.5 percent) from beyond the arc.

The Chippewas held a 45-38 advantage on the boards and led by as many as 20 points in the second half.

Eastern Michigan (12-7, 1-5) was led by Raven Lee's 18-point effort, the lone scorer to reach double figures.
