Akron beats Ball State 59-47

AKRON, Ohio -- Pat Forsythe scored a career-high 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting and Akron beat Ball State 59-47 on Tuesday night, winning its 12th straight game in the series.

Noah Robotham had five assists for the Zips (14-6, 5-2 Mid-Atlantic Conference).

Akron tied it at 7 then again at 20 before Forsythe scored two free throws and a layup for a 24-22 Zips lead. Bo Calhoun hit two free throws for Ball State to tie it at 24 at halftime. Neither team shot better than 33.3 percent in the half.

Akron pulled ahead on a 9-2 run, then used a 9-1 run to lead 46-35 midway through the second half after a layup by Deji Ibitayo. Aaron Jackson scored four points amid a 7-0 run and the Zips led 59-44 with 2:06 to go and the Cardinals couldn't catch up.

Calhoun led Ball State (7-11, 2-5) with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
