Chattanooga breezes by VMI, 86-64

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Eric Robertson came off the bench and scored 17 points on 5-of-5 shooting from the field to lead Chattanooga past VMI 86-64 on Thursday night.

Ronrico White added 15 points for the Mocs (13-7, 6-1 Southern Conference), who shot 48.4 percent, got to the free throw line 32 times, and forced 22 Keydets turnovers.

The Mocs opened the game on a 14-4 run, capped off by a Chuck Ester layup. They maintained their double digit lead throughout the half, leading 41-31 at the break. An 18-8 scoring stretch midway through the second pushed their lead to 20.

Phillip Anglade scored 16 points to lead VMI (7-13, 3-6), who struggled offensively all night, hitting just 31.8 percent of its field goals including 7 of 25 from 3-point range.

After opening the season 3-5, Chattanooga has reeled off wins in 10 of its last 12 games.
