Quinnipiac overtakes Holy Cross for 62-56 win

HAMDEN, Conn. -- Chaise Daniels scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Quinnipiac to a 62-56 comeback win over Holy Cross on Sunday.

Trailing by four at the break, Quinnipiac (1-2) stayed close through the second half and then took the lead with a 9-0 burst fueled by Daniels and Daniel Harris to make it 56-50 with 2:34 to play.

Holy Cross (1-3) cut the gap in half with Matt Zignorski's 3-pointer but was held to just a pair of free throws down the stretch as the Bobcats iced it with a trey from James Ford Jr. and three free throws from Harris, who finished with 16 points.

Giovanni McLean added 11 points and dished out seven assists for Quinnipiac, which controlled the boards 46-31.

Holy Cross got 15 points from Matt Husek, while Karl Charles and Zignorski added 10 apiece.
