Franklin, Davis lead W. Michigan past Ohio 42-21

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Jarvion Franklin rushed 35 times for 156 yards and tied a school record with his 19th touchdown to lead Western Michigan to a 42-21 win over Ohio on Saturday.

Franklin scored three touchdowns in a game for the fifth time this season. Corey Davis caught nine passes for a career-high 212 yards and two touchdowns and Zach Terrell threw for 344 yards.

Western Michigan (5-3, 3-1 Mid-American Conference) scored 28 unanswered points in the first half, highlighted by Terrell's pass to Corey Davis for a 72-yard touchdown. Franklin scored twice on short runs and Trevor Ishmael returned an interception 12 yards for a 28-7 lead.

Ohio's Brett Layton intercepted a tipped pass and returned it 43 yards to the Western Michigan 3. Daz'mond Patterson punched it in on the next play for a 7-0 lead. Corey Davis scored on a 56-yard reception and Dorian Brown scored on a 2-yard rush for Ohio (5-4, 3-2).
