Tracy, Bell among 7 candidates named by D-Backs
PHOENIX -- Well-traveled former manager Jim Tracy and ex-Arizona Diamondbacks infielder Jay Bell are among seven candidates identified by the team to be interviewed to replace the fired Kirk Gibson.
Tracy is a former manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Pittsburgh Pirates and Colorado Rockies. Bell was a member of Arizona's 2001 World Series championship team and currently is bench coach of the Cincinnati Reds.
Others identified by the team are Sandy Alomar Jr., Don Wakamatsu, Andy Green, Phil Nevin, Turner Ward and Joe McEwing.
Alomar is third base coach of the Cleveland Indians, Wakamatsu is Kansas City's bench coach, Green managed Arizona's Double-A affiliate in Mobile, Nevin managed the Diamondbacks' Triple-A club in Reno, Ward is Arizona's batting coach and McEwing is the third base coach of the Chicago White Sox.
